First responder schedules don’t always leave room for simple things—like a quiet dinner, running errands without rushing, or enjoying time together without kids in tow. First Kids: Parent’s Time Out exists to give first responder parents a safe, trusted place to drop off their children for a few hours, knowing they are cared for and having fun.
During Parent’s Time Out, kids will enjoy age-appropriate activities in a secure, welcoming environment led by trusted individuals. While children are engaged and supervised, parents are free to use that time however they need—whether that’s a date night, catching up on life, or simply taking a breather.
This event is FREE and is designed to be easy, supportive, and pressure-free. No expectations. Just a practical way to support first responder families by giving parents the gift of time—because sometimes the most meaningful help is simply knowing your kids are safe while you step away for a bit.

There’s solid research support for the premise behind our First Kids programs like "Parents’ Time Out", backpacks for First Kids, etc. First responder work has unique occupational stressors (shiftwork, trauma exposure, unpredictability) that can spill over into family life. Respite/childcare + connection + normalcy for kids is paramount to healthy First Families. Evidence supports that these families have unique needs! Anything we can do to relieve stressors for those First Families is worthwhile! READ MORE or VISIT our research page, "Why First Responders?"
